BlueSky Brainstorm

Blue-Sky Brainstorm - Create a remote control for a stereotypical character (list on p.174). Brainstorm about the character: what does it do, what makes it interesting, what aspects would be engaging to control, how does it react, how does it have free will. Then, brainstorm features for the imaginary controller: what does it look like, what can each button do.  The sky's the limit. Be creative.  Politician

This Politician would have some free will. The controller would follow Issac Asimov’s Rules outline in the short story “Runaround”

“Isaac Asimov wrote “Runaround” in 1942 in which there was a government Handbook of Robotics (in 2058) which included the following three rules: A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm. A robot must obey orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.” (Tobe & Lawyer, 2018)

The controller would be an app since mobile smart devices are nearly ubiquitous. Modelled after some drag and drop programming apps for robots.

The opening screen would allow you to choose free will or control. You could return to this and switch controls at any time. If you choose Control, you would have control over various aspects of political life.

Choosing how far on the spectrum the politician errors on the side of socialism or capitalism. The ability to write speeches, and manage social media. To listen and have restraint on issues or to take action.
